Gabi and I met quite a few years back whilst I was planning a family friends wedding which happened to be the first wedding I coordinated. We clicked instantly and she always said that one day I would be her planner even though she hadn’t even met GP yet at this stage.
Fast forward a couple of years, I saw on Facebook that she and GP had gotten engaged. It wasn’t even 24 hours later and I had an exciting message from Gabi in my inbox. What a dream couple and dream wedding!
With both of them being Italian, food was going to be a big part of this wedding. To top it off, Gabi’s father is Giovanni of the very well known Giovanni’s Deli in Green Point. Gabi herself is also in the food industry, it soon became clear that we were about to embark on a foodie journey.
We had quite a few meetings over delicious dinners in the Esposito household which became even more special the closer we got to the big day.
Gabi and GP wanted a city wedding and East City Studios with its gorgeous views of the city bowl was the perfect location. The ceremony and pre-reception were held at St Cyprians’ School which Gabi attended and also made Head Girl. She married GP in a gorgeous custom Janita Toerien bridal gown.
A gin and tonic bar, arancini bar, as well as anti pasta grazing platters, awaited the guests to kick off the feasting festivities. When arriving at East City Studio they were greeted with an Aperol Spritz cocktail station. It didn’t stop there, from freshly baked breadsticks, a coffee bar, delicious mains to Gabi and her Nonna making cannoli’s for the guests to enjoy later into the evening. Food truly was the main event!
A highlight of the night was a surprise performance that the groom organised. Majozi serenaded the couple during their first dance to, Darling, one of their favourite songs. From there on DJ Sox kept the party going all night long.
The lovingly packed bonbonniere gifts had to be my favourite detail. Le Creuset croquettes, packed with traditional candy coated almonds for guests to take home.
Gabi and GP you have the most wonderful love story and such loving families. Thank you for letting me be a part of all the special times, especially those amazing Thursday night family dinners.
